Youth:
When I was a young child, maybe between the ages of 7-12, I acutely remember making A LOT, of pencil and paper stick figure drawings. Not just any stick figure drawing though, these drawings were a landscape of a battlefield of figures brutally assaulting each other. Using swords and guns and other weapons, sometimes tanks and helicopters too, showcasing the bullet paths and the blood sprays of figures killing and dying with each other.
Unfortunately, none of these drawings have survived. But, I believe they importantly highlight both my internal state of being (at that age), as well as my entire artistic vision. While my internally combatative experience has thankfully, greatly lessened, if not have been entirely cleansed through, the unified landscape of figures engaging with each other to which I consistently and deeply relate to has remained. Which with a more peaceful aspect, I find great inspiration of the mural work done in the Renaissance time period and look to emulate it.
Formal Education :
Bachelor's of Fine Arts (Painting) - UNL
It’s been relatively quiet for me artistically since I’ve left college. College provided a structure, as well as a motivation or a stress, whether healthy or not, that gave me a lot of emotional fluidity to pursue and create work.
I’ve made some things here and there since then: such as a small collection of illustrations and paintings, some furniture, but nothing with a more serious and focused effort. It’s nothing good or bad not making artwork. Just different.
Sometimes the sea rages. Sometimes it lays still.
Currently just looking to clear and create space.
I think about art all the time. I’m simply a visually expressive person.
My ability to most importantly appreciate something is ever present, but to see possible visual improvements, or to create something new that’s visually engaging, is a river that’s always flowing.
Some future visual outlets that I’m personally looking to pursue are:
*Color field* painting series
*Radiation* painting series
Figure drawings
